Minutes of last meeting held Saturday 29^th November 2008

The Minutes were accepted as a true record.  Proposed by Peter Haden, Seconded by Darren Martin.

Treasurer’s Report – Dave Otterson

See attached accounts.  Copies of accounts were circulated to those present.  Report accepted  - Proposed by Peter Haden and seconded by Dave Churchward.  Dave Otterson’s daughter, who is a qualified accountant, audited the accounts.  It was stated that this was best practice that an independent person checked NEDOC accounts every year.  It was noted there is over £3000 in NEDOC accounts.

Chairman’s Report – Dave Dresser

Dave expressed his thanks to all instructors and clubs who have helped and supported NEDOC over the year.  A special mention to Seaham SAC for the use of their clubhouse, also for the use of club boats on Boat Handling courses.

Courses were well down on previous years with a lot cancelled due to lack of candidates.  Only four courses with 22 candidates.  SAA members can attend any courses held in other Regions, contact head office or Regions running courses.

Courses not run due to lack of numbers, fees refunded or can be held over until next course or used on a different course.

Shortened lectures still ongoing maybe out for AGM 2010.

Diver 1^st Aid only lasts 3 years and to avoid doing full course you must attend an ELS two-hour course before your certificate expires.  Development Course fees to remain the same.

National awards - clubs reminded to submit their nominations as soon as possible.

NDO Workshop – Dave attended from the region.  All clubs will have received a copy of the subjects brought up.  Or look on SAA web site.

Motions

There was one motion Proposed by Dave Otterson and Seconded by Roy Bunn. 

Proposed that NEDOC purchase 10 suitable surface life jackets to be used on Boat Handling Courses and any other Regional Course where they might be needed.

After some discussion by members present, it was put to the vote and carried unanimously.

Dave will look at prices and different styles of jacket for the next meeting.
